Meet Marie
"Healthy eating is often about what you can add into your diet, not what you need to take out.
I'll help you find a way of eating that feels natural, not restrictive, so you can stop fighting with food and start feeling good again"
I’m Marie Bird RD BSc (Hons), a State Registered Dietitian passionate about helping people achieve and maintain a healthy weight in a realistic, sustainable way.

I have a degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and am registered with both the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Dietetic Association (BDA).

As a Specialist Dietitian, I have over 40 years of NHS experience, including 30 years specialising in diabetes and weight management. More recently, I’ve supported patients using weight loss injectable medications, working alongside endocrinologists and surgeons within specialist hospital teams.

After decades working in the NHS, I saw how many people struggled with weight maintenance after a period of weight loss. NourishWell was created to change that - offering expert, evidence-based guidance delivered with empathy and understanding, notably to support weight loss and maintenance.

At NourishWell, my goal is to help you live well and become a healthier version of yourself, without guilt, restriction, or rigid diet rules.

Together, we will focus on improving your relationship with food with or without weight loss medications and will find a balanced approach to nutrition that supports long term weight maintenance after a period of weight loss. Our aim will be to prevent weight regain whilst considering your physical and emotional wellbeing.

I believe in a flexible, balanced approach to healthy eating, without strict rules or restriction. That's why I often encourage the 80:20 approach, which focuses on nourishing foods most of the time while still allowing room to enjoy the foods you love. This supports guilt-free eating, long-term wellbeing, and a healthier relationship with food.

I take a holistic view of weight management, considering your eating habits, medications, lifestyle, and past experiences, to create an evidence-based, realistic plan that supports long-term success and fits your life.

I also stay up to date with current research and regularly engage with evidence-based resources to ensure the guidance I provide remains safe, effective, and relevant.
